Prevalence of Thyroglobulin Antibody (TgAb) Positivity in Patients Post Treatment for Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma and Verification of Serum Thyroglobulin Measurements by Thyroglobulin Recovery Test and TgAb assay

چکیده
Introduction: Thyroglobulin (Tg) measurement is important for detection of disease recurrence in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC). However, its affected by Tg autoantibodies (TgAb). Calculation recovery may complement quantitative TgAb interference. This study aimed to determine the prevalence positivity samples received from post-thyroidectomy DTC Hospital Pulau Pinang (HPP). Additionally, we assessed use II Confirmatory Test (Roche Diagnostics) assay calculate detecting Method: Samples measurements were tested Test. The levels [categorised as biochemically detectable (≥1.0 μg/l) vs undetectable (<1.0 μg/l)], and correct (70%-130%) compromised (<70% >130%) recovery] interpreted diagnostic radioiodine uptake (RAI) results. Results: In this study, 58/73 (79.5%) had Tg. A was observed three (4.1%) samples. Only 51 out 73 subjects an RAI performed, which 27 (52.9%) increased (radiological evidence persistent/recurrent disease). Of those uptake, 17 (63%) Tg, none recovery. Conclusion: presence prevents reliable calculation did not provide additional complementary value interference measurements.

Thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) methods - Strengths, pitfalls and clinical utility for monitoring TgAb-positive patients with differentiated thyroid cancer.
Thyroglobulin autoantibodies (TgAb) are detected at diagnosis or during treatment in approximately 25% of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). When present, TgAb interferes with thyroglobulin (Tg) measurement causing falsely low or undetectable Tg immunometric assay (IMA) values that can mask disease. Guidelines mandate that every Tg test have TgAb measured simultaneously and quan...
متن کاملPrognostic Value of Basal Serum Thyroglobulin Levels, but Not Basal Antithyroglobulin Antibody (TgAb) Levels, in Patients with Differentiated Thyroid Cancer
OBJECTIVE The prognostic values of serum thyroglobulin (Tg) and antithyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) levels, measured immediately before I-131remnant ablation in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), have been advocated by some researchers; however, it had controversial outcomes. This study was carried out to examine this dilemma and to check the clinical significance of basal serum T...
متن کاملSerum thyroglobulin autoantibodies: prevalence, influence on serum thyroglobulin measurement, and prognostic significance in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
The prevalence of circulating thyroid autoantibodies (TgAb or antithyroid peroxidase) was increased nearly 3-fold in patients with differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC) compared with the general population (40% vs. 14%, respectively). Serum TgAb (with or without antithyroid peroxidase) was present in 25% of DTC patients and 10% of the general population. Serial postsurgical serum TgAb and serum ...
متن کاملThyroglobulin antibodies in serum of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer: relationship between epitope specificities and thyroglobulin recovery.
BACKGROUND Serum antibodies against thyroglobulin (TgAbs) are common in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) and can interfere in thyroglobulin (Tg) assays. We identified the epitopes on Tg recognized by TgAb-positive sera from patients with DTC and examined the association between epitope specificity patterns and Tg recovery. METHODS We tested 50 DTC sera for Tg epitope specific...
